I don't really have anything of importance to say, but I thought I'd give an intro post. I think I know several people here from stepmoms
but here goes.
I'm paranoid, so no matter how closed this community is, I don't post my name, or SS's name. Even though I don't think BM has internet, you just never know.... I'm 23, my SO is 25, and SS is 7. (Yep, I'm definitely a young one!) SO and I have been dating for just about 5 years now, and living together for the past two. SO has had custody (with BM taking every other weekend) for four years now, and I assume a lot of the responsibility for SS. Because of SO's work schedule, I take SS to school every day, and pick him up a lot too. (I refuse to go into a BM rant here. Grrr.....)
People usually assume that I'm SS's sister or babysitter or aunt of something, because he calls me by my first name, I'm young, and I look a lot younger than my age. :S Sometimes I wonder if my age matters because I think about it, or if other people really do care. SS is in 1st grade, and most of the moms in his class are in their early 30s, some older than that. I don't really fit in well with any of them, but I still love going to his school events and volunteering in his classroom when I have the chance. I don't know if it would really make a difference if I were older, because being a stepmom really sets you apart in some people's minds.
I guess that's about it. I'm looking forward to this community! :)
